With its focus on sustainable fashion, the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar has become a major attraction for students with a green thumb and interest in eco-friendly fashion. Under its green initiatives, the institute has futuristic plans of setting up a facility for creating a value chain of Ahimsa Silks of three different varieties such as tussar, mulberry and eri. In a bid to create awareness among students who aspire to study eco-fashion, NIFT will conduct an open house in the campus on Friday.
“With the right positioning of the NIFT Bhubaneswar campus on sustainable fashion in the last couple of months, the campus has been a centre spot for many young aspirants. Young aspirants and their parents are inquiring to send their students to NIFT Bhubaneswar campus in the belief that they will get an opportunity to know more about eco- friendly fashion value chain,” Binaya Bhusan Jena, director of NIFT, Bhubaneswar, said.
NIFT offers Bachelor of Design (BDes) courses like BDes (Fashion Design), BDes (Textile Design), BDes (Lifestyle Accessory Design), and BDes (Fashion Communication). Apart from this, it also offers a two-year Masters course in Master of Fashion Management (MFM). The All India Entrance Examination for NIFTs various bachelors and masters programme will be held on January 20, 2020. This creates tremendous opportunity for students making a career in sustainable fashion, Jena said.
